It’s no surprise that businesses are flocking to Google Ads to see if they can make it work.

One of the best aspects of Google Ads is that you can get started in minutes. Google has made it so easy to get started that all you have to do is click a few buttons, enter your credit card information, and you’re done! Your ads will begin to appear to your prospects, and you will hopefully receive qualified traffic.
As a result, Google Ads is one of the quickest ways to start acquiring new customers for your business. However, it is precisely because of this, that so many businesses lose money!
Unfortunately, Google’s default settings (such as advertising in both the Search and Display networks in the same campaign) almost always result in you spending more money than you need to. Consider this!

The second reason is that many people believe that success in Google Ads is only dependent on quality scores, bidding tips and tricks, and automation tools. However, success with Google Ads is primarily determined by advertising fundamentals and best practices. I’ve audited numerous of Google Ads accounts where businesses were wasting hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars because they weren’t using direct response.
The most common mistake I see is when businesses direct their advertising traffic to their homepage. One of the most fundamental advertising principles is to precisely match your message to your market/prospect. Your homepage describes everything you do and caters to every type of prospect who may visit your website.
As a result, by definition, your homepage will never perfectly match your prospect who just typed a very specific question into Google.

The third reason many businesses lose money with Google Ads is a lack of a checklist.
When I audit Google Ads campaigns, I go through a detailed checklist that I created with the help of my mentors and my own research.

Finally, most businesses lose money with Google Ads because they do not track leads and sales from their campaigns. When customers tell me they have no way of measuring the effectiveness of their Google Ads campaigns, I am always surprised.
Or they’re taking the wrong measurements!
I hope that by reading these four major Google Ads mistakes, you will be able to avoid them entirely and begin reaping the benefits of Google’s massive market. When properly configured, Google Ads can generate leads and sales as consistently and predictably as a vending machine.
Make sure your campaigns succeed.
